SEGA Receives Gambling License from Alderney Gambling Control Commission

Popular video game maker SEGA appears to be moving into the online gaming market. The group was officially given an online gaming license by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission on October 16th, 2009.

The head of eCommerce Development for Alderney, a British Crown dependency Channel Island almost one hundred kilometers off the South Coast of England, Robin Le Prevost, said that the SEGA Games chose to base their new product with Alderney and it is something that they are very proud of.

Le Prevost said that the decision of SEGA Games vindicates the quality of their regulation, which is recognized all over the world and has seen substantial investment from gaming companies of good standing like SEGA over the past few years. The Alderney Gambling Commission already licenses a number of well-known online poker rooms like PartyPoker and PKR.

A SEGA spokesperson said that the Alderney Gambling Control Commission gives the most comprehensive gaming regulations with the strictest gaming requirements and is recognized as the most reputable and respected online gambling jurisdiction.

The spokesperson added that this provides a good fit with the regulatory compliant strategy of SEGA and they are very happy to receive the approval of this leading gaming authority. SEGA is one of the largest video game makers in the world and is responsible for creating the Saturn, Genesis and Dreamcast consoles as well as the Sonic the Hedgehog games.
