Foxwoods Casino Hosts the 2010 Mega Stack Challenge

The Foxwoods 2010 Mega Stack Challenge started on May 11th, 2010 at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. The first poker event was a $340 no-limit hold'em event that attracted 925 poker players.

The top one hundred players will take home money and the top cash prize is $67,294. 2002 WSOP (World Series of Poker) Main Event Robert Varkonyi is one of the players to watch out for in the field.

There will be two other poker events that will be held during the 16th edition of this poker event series and they will feature a $560 no-limit hold'em event that will begin on May 13th, 2010 with a $125,000 guaranteed prize cash pool and the $1,650 no-limit hold'em main event. This poker series is one of the four Mega Stack Challenge events that will take place in 2010.

The first one happened in February 2010 and the other two will be on August 17th, 2010-August 23rd, 2010 and December 14th, 2010-December 20th, 2010. The main event will offer a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and it will begin on May 15th, 2010. It will run for three consecutive days and will crown a winner on May 17th, 2010.

Previous members of the WSOP "November Nine" group like Dennis Phillips and Kevin Schaffel will be co-hosting the tournament. They will also be participating in single-table sit-and goes poker game during the tournament. Foxwoods spokesman and poker pro Bernard Lee will also be in the event.

The previous Mega Stack Challenge main event attracted a playing field of 224 poker players and the winner was Card Player Player of the Year (POY) candidate Dwyte Pilgrim. He won a total of $50,145 in cash prize and 528 points for the main event win. Other notable cash-ins at the last Mega Stack Challenge included Will Failla and Todd Terry.
