Betfair Poker and William Hill Poker Experience Increase in Player Traffic Due to Bad Weather

It appears that the terrible weather in the United Kingdom is convincing British players to play at virtual poker tables. The British capital is currently experiencing some of its worst weather condition in years and much of Great Britain remains under a heavy blanket of snow and freezing conditions.

However, online poker site Betfair Poker has reported a twenty percent increase in UK player activity on the online site since the bad weather started and the poker site is crediting the weather conditions for its recent popularity with poker players. With much of the public forced to stay home from work and several sporting events cancelled due to the weather, Betfair says that players are going to the virtual poker felt.

Fellow UK-based gaming operator William Hill Poker has also reported increase in player traffic over the last week. As a result of the increase in player traffic, Betfair has even named the bad weather "Snow Show" and is offering a few value-added poker tournaments.

Poker players will see a $1,000 "Big Freeze" freeroll in the gaming lobby along with a $1 buy-in $200-added "Snowball Fight" and a $5 buy-in $200 -added "Ice Ice Baby" event. The increase in player traffic may not last much longer as weather forecasters are predicting that temperatures in Great Britain will begin to rise above freezing next week.
