The 2008 WPT Spanish Championship at the Casino Barcelona

Following in the heels of the very successful Spanish Championship on 2007's World Poker Tour, the WPT Enterprises (WPTE) and Grup Peralada recently announced that they will be again offering the event on the WPT schedule this year, which will be held at the Casino Barcelona on May 21st, 2008 and will end on May 27th, 2008.

The event is expected to attract over four hundred players, like the new representative of the WPT Poker Made Millionaire, Poker player Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari, as he represents the WPT at the poker events. Casino Barcelona will also host a Super Satellite No Limit Hold'em event, which will feature a buy-in cost of 200 euros+twenty euros, aside from unlimited re-buys options and add-ons, beginning from three in the afternoon on May 21st, 2008 and May 22nd, 2008.

Online satellites can be easily accessed at the online site of the World Poker Tour. The main event of the tournament will start at Casino Barcelona on May 24th, 2008 finishing with a non-televised final on May 27th, 2008. Last October 2007, the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship saw 226 poker players from around the world go head to head for 7,500 euros.

Some of the participants in the event include Gus Hansen, Isabelle Mercier, Juha Helppi, Christer Johansson, Erik Seidel and others. Markus Lehmann from Austria won the event and take home 537,000 euros aside from the title of being the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship. The event will be shown on June 2nd, 2008 at the Game Shown Network following High Stakes Poker.
