The Ante Up for Africa Charity Event at CBS

CBS plans to show the coverage of the Ante Up for Africa charity poker event from the PokerStars EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo this past April 2009 for two Saturdays. The first one aired on the US network on September 19th, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. EST. and the next one will be on September 26th, 2009, EST, leading into its popular college football TV coverage.

Patterned after the World Series of Poker's Ante Up For Africa event started by Annie Duke, Norman Epstein and Don Cheadle, the $6,000 buy-in poker event saw stars from the world of TV, Sports and Music face off with top poker pros. Celebrities like Joel Madden, Christina Milian, Nelly, Boris Becker and James Lee were joined my Team PokerStars Pros members Joe Hachem, Vanessa Rousso and Daniel Negreanu on the poker felt.

Former Team PokerStars Pro member Isabelle Mercier actually won the event by defeating English football legend Teddy Sheringham in the heads-up showdown. All of the prize money was donated to help charities provide assistance to the humanitarian efforts in Darfur. Rousso said that she makes it a point to participate in Ante Up for Africa event every year since it is for a worthy cause.
